Zouk located at 17 Jiak Kim Street in Singapore is the brainchild of night club entrepreneur Lincoln Cheng, built in an ancient blessed warehouse that stands next to the Singapore River.

Zouk has been an icon in Asia’s music industry for the past 15 years. This past October the club closed for a one month major refit. Everything was gutted from the space and rebuilt. New decor, lighting & sound was installed. After the refit Zouk reopened to celebrate its 15th year anniversary. Owner and CEO Lincoln Cheng spent one year searching for a new sound system that would be correct for his club & patrons with that in mind he auditioned many out of the box popular sound systems on the market today but after hearing them all he chose to use GSA.

What undoubtedly takes center stage in Zouk’s refit is the brand new custom-made sound system from New York based Gary Stewart Audio (GSA), a system that is said to have cost far more than one quarter of a million US dollars. With four towering speaker stacks (each an imposing twelve feet tall and complete with an eight foot wide exponential sub bass horn) located in the four corners of the dance floor, coupled with two full range quad amplified centre fills, two center sub bass horns and six strategically placed tweeter arrays, This new, fully analogue system pumps out a warm and well balanced sound throughout the entire dance floor.

We have fitted Zouk with a mixture of new and classic audio products, some of which have been custom build. From our motorized console to our patch bay then a trip to the

We have international Djs playing at our club every week and everyone from DT to Carl Cox has said this is the best sound system they have played on in the world. It is 100% analog and even the entire console is designed by Gary. Every CDJ goes through a digital to analog converter. The main mixer is a beautifully reconditioned UREI. After Danny Tenaglia played his marathon NYE gig here, he sent me an email saying: ”So here is my BIG THANKS and congratulations on the wonderful renovations and SUPERB SOUND! December 31st, 2005 – New Year Eve @ Zouk with all of you was probably one of the best New Year’s Even parties that I can sincerely recall enjoy so thoroughly in several years. There are many factors involved and I like to think of it a Fantastic Minestrone Soup (hehe) All the proper ingredients were there. (In no specific order, well, sort of, but here goes)….
- The incredible new DJ booth design, which deserves its own mention aside from the sound system because they are two different things. The design was so professional and comfortable. I have been raving about it to everyone that club Zouk has the most ergonomical DJ booth in the world to play in, seriously!
- The massive top quality sound (by Gary Stewart Audio, GSA). Gary hit the nail on the head and knew exactly how to treat that room. The towers are massive! And since I am used top quality Sound System (being from New York), and I’ve played on some of the best systems in the world. Well, now Zouk can also place themselves in the book of not only being one of the best clubs in the world, but Zouk also now has one of the best sound systems as well.(Boom!)
- The DJ console’s becomes “my instrument” and sometimes we play our instruments better on certain days than others. I felt that I was having a great day enjoying that instrument and once again, I thank Lincoln, Aldrin, Zouk, GSA and all of you for making it such a fantastic experience from beginning to end.!

Miz09 on DTourism. Major props to you Gary. From the moment Behrouz met you he has had nothing but great things to say about you and your work. He truly believes in you and now I can see why. We need more club owners to realize the worth of having a top notch sound system in their venues (it’s all about the sound). How can a proper dj play a killer set without the sound being good? I understand why Danny and Behrouz are anal about it and if a club is equipped with a beautiful sound system (like a Rolls Royce, as Danny would say) then not only does the Dj take you on a journey but so does the music.
